BASED IN PARIS
Olya Oleinic is a visual artist whose work is based in photography.
Since acquiring her art degree at the Royal Academy in the Netherlands in 2014, she has presented her first solo show at Foam, Amsterdam, and participated in a number of group exhibitions worldwide, amongst which Les Rencontres d’Arles, Red Hook Labs, Brooklyn NYC, and Unseen Amsterdam.
Olya’s photographs share a vision unbound by the conventions of an expected aesthetic. Each body of work is rooted in research, each choice considered to be suited its character, then tied together with the tailored, always evolving sense of visual direction.
Her images speak through their confident subtlety, the sensitivity of a personal relationship to her subjects, and reflect an embrace of daily observations amidst the climate of complex and ever-shifting social and cultural matters.
Not only the themes within Olya’s work but also the means and choices of her practice as such are based on the sheer ambition of developing a strong community, one with a sustainable progression and a healthy climate within.
Olya’s work has appeared on the pages of M le Monde, Zeit, Wallpaper*, i-D, Another, Document Journal. Her commissions include Chloé, Maison Margiela, Fred Perry x Raf Simons, Isa Boulder, Hugo Boss, and Apartamento Studios amongst others.
Born and raised in Eastern Europe, Olya currently lives and works in Paris.
